Bosnian-born American cinematographer\/photographer Suki Medencevic, ASC, with the exhibition \u201eWindows to the World,Windows to the Soul\u201c presents his uniquely cinematic collection of images from around the world.<\/p>\n

Visual storytelling has been Suki’s lifelong passion.<\/p>\n

Working as a cinematographer in the narrative world of film, television and documentaries, his dedication to the story told by the light, composition and camera movement is always deeply rooted in his still photography.<\/p>\n

His filmmaker’s eyes are always actively looking for the moments in life that when captured as a still image can communicate in one frame the same idea as if it were a part of the film scene. In the same manner, he is fascinated by the interaction of light and texture, geometry and people, which sometimes creates a beautiful harmony or sometimes collides in a dramatic way.<\/p>\n

Suki’s cinematic background is clearly present in his portrait photography. There is a strong and intimate connection between his camera and the subject giving us a glimpse into the human soul regardless if it is a Mayan girl in Guatemala or a random Roma girl behind the fence fascinated by the wedding that she can’t attend.<\/p>\n

Suki’s still photography represents a true labor of love and dedication. For Suki, photography will always be a passion and probably, never a profession.<\/p>\n

The initiator and one of the sponsor of the exhibition is the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n

Biography <\/strong><\/p>\n

Suki Meden\u010devi\u0107 was born in Derventa, Bosnia and Herzegovina. While in high school Suki became interested in the field of still photography.\u00a0 His high school thesis paper \u201cOn The Use of High Frequency Current in Kirlian\u2019s Photography\u201d was published in the most prestigious national scientific magazine.<\/p>\n

Suki earned his master\u2019s degree with honours in cinematography at renowned National Film School (FAMU), Prague, Czech Republic. While in Prague, he received the \u201cChancellor\u2019s Award\u201d, for outstanding results in Cinematography, and he was a first recipient of \u201cJaroslav Ku\u010dera\u2019s Award,\u201d given by the Czech Cinematographers\u2019 Society.<\/p>\n

For his work as a cinematographer he has earned many international awards including a nomination for \u201cThe Golden Frog\u201d at Camerimage, International Film Festival of The Art of Cinematography, and \u201cThe Best Photography Award\u201d at Mostra di Valencia international film festival in Spain.<\/p>\n

His passion for still photography is something that was always a part of Suki\u2019s professional and personal life. He is very passionate still photographer with several solo and group exhibits on his resume. The most recent photography exhibit \u201cWindows to the World-Windows to the Soul\u201d was a big success in Los Angeles and it is currently on the tour in Europe.<\/p>\n

Suki is actively involved in the education of a new generation of the film makers and he is on faculty of USC School of Cinematographer Arts as well as New York Film Academy and a guest lecturer in many renowned film schools. In 2010 Suki became a member of American Cinematographers Society, the ASC, world\u2019s most prestigious cinematographers\u2019 organization.<\/p>\n
