Roman Petrović
(Donji Vakuf, BiH, 1896 – Sarajevo, BiH, 1947)
He studied painting at the Academy of Fine arts in Krakow, the Higher School for Arts and Crafts in Zagreb, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In 1925 he was elected for president of the Society of artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in 1945 for president of the Association of artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. He was one of the founders of the State School for Fine Arts and Artistic Crafts in Sarajevo and the Association of Fine Arts of B&H. The retrospective exhibition of the works of Roman Petrović was opened in March 1988 in the National Gallery of BiH in Sarajevo. Besides easel painting, he worked as a pedagogue and set and costume designer of the National Theatre in Sarajevo. He illustrated books and magazines, made icons and fresco sacred paintings.
He used atelier in Street Ferhadija no. 19 from 1935 to 1944.
