Boris Orenčuk – Material|Shape|Vertical

12.09. 2019 – 13. 10. 2019.

Boris Orenčuk (Mostar, 1989) will present the series of sculptures through which he explored the possibilities of material in the construction of a predetermined shape – dominantly vertical human figure. Sculptures made of wire (produced by burning the tires) and wood fill up the space in groups, leaving a strong impression on visitors.

“The young Mostar sculptor, through his work, shows perseverance and the need for constant creation. His people are just as humble and fragile as well as penetrating and powerful, and can often provoke the observer’s perception and evoke different approaches, thoughts, and emotions. They do not dictate nor determine the way they are supposed to be understood, instead they allow the freedom of interpretation. Who are these Orenčuk’s people is an easy question? Are they specific personas whose name only he knows, or are they certain characters / types of people? Are they humans or fictitious beings? Is it the author or is it us? If we cannot answer this objectively, then it is better to do it subjectively, because the exhibited works, according to the artist’s statement, are the last in his research path that is guided by the guidelines of the Matter-Shape-Vertical.” Danijela Ucović, art historian

The exhibition will be opened as a part of the cooperation with the Franciscan Museum and Gallery Široki Brijeg.
