Jurkić Gabrijel
(Livno, B&H, 1886 – Livno, B&H, 1974)
Graduated from the Technical School in Sarajevo. In 1906, he left for Zagreb, where he enrolled with the School of Fine Arts led by Prof. B.Čikoš-Sesija and Prof. M.C.Crnčić. He was one of the first students of the newly established Temporary Higher School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. By the end of 1908, he was admitted at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he graduated in 1908/1909 at the Painting the Department and began studying “the arts from Bosnian History”. In 1911, he moved to Sarajevo. After 1956, he lived in the Franciscan monastery Gorica in Livno, where his works are exhibited today. His retrospective exhibition was opened in January 1978 in the National Gallery of BiH in Sarajevo.
