Summerecker Sigo

(Banja Luka, B&H, 1897 – Zagreb, Croatia, 1983)

He learned painting from Pero Popović (1908) and at the Royal College of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb (1919 – 1924), where he was taught by Ferdo Kovačević, M. Crnčić, B. Čikoš Sesija and Ljubo Babić. He came to Sarajevo in 1924 in order to work as a drawing teacher in the gymnasium (1924-45), followed by the employment at the High School of Applied Arts (1945 – 53). Summerecker exhibited in Paris in 1925. He perfected his painting technique and forms through numerous studies of still life. He was professor at The Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb from 1953.
