Trepše Marijan
(Zagreb, Croatia, 1897 – Zagreb, Croatia, 1964)
He attended several academies, graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (B. Čikoš-Sesija) in 1918, and then he continued his training in Prague in 1919 (M. Švabinsky), and, during his stay in Paris between 1920 and 1922, he worked at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. He worked as set designer at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. Trepše exhibited at all exhibitions of Proljetni Salon (Spring Salon) (1919-28). He was an excellent draftsman, caricaturist, and graphic artist, and his etchings, lithographs and woodcuts stood out. He made book illustrations and layouts. He is the author of a large number of set designs for operas, operettas, ballet and theater performances. He designed stained glass.
