Mato Celestin Medović
He completed the Theological Seminary in Dubrovnik and became a priest in May 1880. That’s same year he went to Rome to study painting. From 1888 to 1893, he lived in Munich. In the period 1912-1914, he lived in Vienna. In 1919, he became an honorary member of the Yugoslav Academy of Arts and Sciences, based in Zagreb. He was a member of the “Arts Society” and “Croatian Artists’ Society”, and then of the folklore groups “Lado” and “Medulić” in Split.
