Omer Mujadžić
(B&H, 1903 – Croatia, 1991)
He graduated in 1924 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (F. Kovacević, Lj. Babić), where he was a professor from 1931 to 1973.
At first, he painted under the influence of expressionism and cubism (Paris period, 1924-26), then from 1930s, as a member of the group Zemlja, he worked on compositions with social themes. By gradually building up his artistic expression he opted for intimate interiors and figural compositions, portraits and still life. He moved from accented contrast to tone process; thick impasto was replaced by airy spreads of the brush, which gave his blue-gray interiors certain softness and warmth.
He painted scenes from Bosnia, landscapes from Dalmatia and Zagreb surroundings, without much descriptive details.
