Vojo Dimitrijević
(Sarajevo, B&H, 1910 – Sarajevo, B&H, 1981)
In 1936, graduated from the State School of Arts in Belgrade. In 1938 lived in Paris, for a while working in the studio of Andre Loth. In 1939, he returned to Sarajevo, and, together with a group of intellectuals and artists, he established the Collegium Artisticum, an association with progressive ideas that had a significant influence on the then cultural scene. By the beginning of the World War II, he jointed Tito’s partisans. After the liberation of the country, he was engaged in establishing the School of Art, where he served as a director. He was among the initiators and founders of the associations of fine arts of B&H and Yugoslavia. He was a full member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of B&H. A retrospective exhibition of the works of Vojo Dimitrijević was held in 1970 at the National Gallery of B&H in Sarajevo.
