Ivan Tabaković
(1898-1977)
Graduated in 1924 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1925 to 1927, together with Oton Postružnik, he led a private school of art. He was one of the founders of the painters’ group “Zemlja” in Zagreb. In 1945, he became a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and in 1948, a full-time professor of the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade. He participated in the creation of the group ”Šestorica”. He made #paintings, #prints and #ceramics.
The artwork “Portrait study” was made in 1954 and in 1955 after the exhibition “Šestorica” it was purchased by the National Gallery of B&H.
