Emira Turnadžić-Begić
(Zagreb, Croatia, 1955)
She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1979 and she was a collaborator on the master workshop of Ljube Ivančić and Nikola Reiser in Zagreb. In 1983 she had her first solo exhibition in the studio of the National art gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Emira Turnadžić is an artist with a strong sense for sculpture, so it is not surprising that her work includes two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional works. She often introduces applied materials such as paper, foil or glue to the painting or drawing to the two-dimensional works. The main motive of her works is represented through the figure, which she rediscovers through material, shape and volume. Being a source of research and deliberation of art, the figure is often only surmised.
She worked as an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Ljubljana.
