Marko Čelebonović
(Belgrade, Serbia, 1903 – Saint Tropez, France, 1986)
He studied law and economics in England and France and graduated law in Paris. He was taught sculpting by A. Burdel, and, in 1923, he chose painting for his vocation. Until the World War II, he lived in Paris and Saint Tropez. He joined the resistance Movement. After 1945, he returned to Yugoslavia. He was a member of the groups “Oblik”(“Form”), “Dvanaestorica” (“Twelve Artists”) and “Samostalni” (“Independent”). In the periods between 1947 and 1949, and 1952 and 1959, he was a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He was a member of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
