Marino Tartaglia
(Zagreb, Croatia, 1894 – Zagreb, Croatia, 1984)
In 1912, enrolled with the Academie Suisse in Florence, in the class of Prof. Antonio August Giacometti. He continued his studies in 1913 at the Istituto Superiore di Belle Arti in Rome, where he met a circle of artists who belonged to the Futurist movement- In 1918, he returned home to Split. Between 1920 and 1924, he lived in Vienna; in 1925, he moved to Belgrade, where he was one of the founders of the group “Oblik” (“Form”). Between 1927 and 1928, he lived in Paris, Juan de Pins, and Saint Tropez. In 1931, he received full professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He was a member of the Zagreb-based Yugoslav Academy of Arts and Sciences. He had a great number of solo exhibitions and participated at some major group exhibitions. He was the recipient of very distinguished national awards.
