A retrospective exhibition of paintings and graphic prints on the occassion of 46 years of Irfan Handukić’s artistic creation.
Irfan Handukić is one of the representatives of contemporary Bosnian-Herzegovinian generation of graphic artists. His works in the field of graphic arts and painting. He is one of the representatives of new painting, an international art movement in the local art scene of the eighties.
His graphic opus is deeply imbued with the European art tradition, its multicultural components, and those universal ones of the Islamic cultural circle, which are not based on their theological values, but rather on the interwaving of the cultural, humanistic, ethical and aesthetic heritage with stimulating deep incentives for creation and expression in this medium.
Biography:
Irfan Handukić (1950, Bihać, BiH) graduated from the Faculty for Pedagogy, the Department of Arts, in 1972 in Sarajevo. In 1979, under the mentorship od Josip Butković, he graduated Graphic Arts from the Faculty for Pedagogy in Rijeka (Croatia). He completed his postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1999, under the mentorship of Dževad Hozo, and his doctoral studies in 2008 at the Faculty of Philosophy – University of Sarajevo. He works as a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.
Irfan Handukić’s monograph will be presented at the exhibition opening on March 20 at 6pm.
