Mikulić Marko

MIKULIĆ Mario

(Korčula, Croatia, 1924 – Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1991)

He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1949. His first solo exhibition was held in 1953 in Bihać, where he spent several weeks painting motifs of the city.

Mario Mikulić began his artistic career as engaged artist, which was common in the post-war years. Therefore, it is not surprising that a large part of the artist’s work collection consists of portraits, which show the changed in his artistic style, from realism to expressionism.

In the years that followed, the artist turned to the discovery of landscapes and still life. Fairs and carnivals, gave way to a feeling of longing for the sea through fishing themes and views of the Sarajevo Ferhadija Street (former Vaso Miskin) through the window of the artist’s studio.

He was awarded the Sixth of April Award of the city of Sarajevo in 1966.
