Veličković Vladimir
(Beograd, Serbia, 1935)
Graduated in 1960 from the faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. In 1962/1963, he collaborated with the master’s workshop of K. Hegedušić in Zagreb. He had numerous solo exhibitions in the country and abroad. His creative opus includes, in addition to paintings, the illustrations of various publications, films, set and costume designs. He received a series of significant awards for his work. He is the professor of painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1965, he won the Paris Biennale Grand Prix and, in 1972, he exhibited his works at the Venice Biennale. In 2005, he was elected to the French Academy of Arts; in 2007, he was awarded the highest French recognition in the field of culture – Legion d’Honeur. He is the recipient of the Herder Award of the University of Vienna. Since 1966, he has been living and working in Paris.
