Frangeš Mihanović Robert
(Sremska Mitrovica, 1872 – Zagreb, 1940)
He completed the Crafts School in Zagreb in 1889 and during the same year he made the right column on the main entrance door of the school (today’s Museum of Arts and Crafts). Continued his education in Vienna at the School of Arts and Crafts (August Kühne, Otto König) and then at the Academy of Fine Arts (1894-1895) under the mentorship of Carl Kundmann. He continued his training in Paris under August Rodin (1900/01). He taught at the Crafts School (1895 – 1907) and the Academy of Fine Arts (1907 – 40) in Zagreb. He participated in the founding of the Society of Croatian Artists (1907), the Lada association (1904) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (1907). Member of JAZU, SANU and the Academy of Sciences and Arts in Prague. Most of his works are in Zagreb at the Gliptotheque of HAZU, Modern Gallery and Frangeš Ambiental Collection.
