Tiljak Đuro

(Zagreb, Croatia, 1895 – Zagreb, Croatia, 1965)

He first studied in Zagreb, and then in 1919 he continued his studies at the Moscow Academy (Wassily Kandinsky). In 1923, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, under Oton Iveković and Ljubo Babić, and he taught there from 1945. He was a member of the group Zemlja (1930 – 33), editor of the magazine Kultura and art critic in the magazine Književnik. The Memorial Collection of Đuro Tiljak was opened in Komiža in 1966.
