Hodler for the Artists\u2019 Association in Z\u00fcrich. This example illustrates the characteristics of Secession, primarily expressed through unpredictable, asymmetric and exceptionally decorative movement of lines that is in a particular manner a stylisation of form, with intentional deformations, emphasized flatness, and, ultimately, done in his specific colouristic accents. All these features of Hodler\u2019s work should not come as surprise, since he is one of the most important representatives of Secession art genre.
