The exhibition of prints by Avdo \u017diga will be presented in the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina from December 12 until January 6. Over 50 prints of this prominent printmaker will be displayed at this exhibition.<\/p>\n
\u201eIn the exhibited works can be felt the fragmentation of time, destructive and constructive principle, as well as the complexity of emotion. Also, they can simultaneously be characterized as expressionist, surrealistic, and symbolical. What was recognizable as \u017diga’s is now contextualized again. The artist himself in that creative ardour (and the absolute technical supremacy) is letting entirely new creatures to step on his matrix, to grab those old ones, to live with them. The expressivness is more pronounced in comparison to earlier work, where the whole torrent of thoughts took place on a single print. The manuscript and the visual expression of Avdo \u017diga is something quite authentic, such a degree of transformation of one form to the other, while retaining or emphasizing the expressive values of the printmaking in its classical, but also in contemporary sense, we can only follow along the lines of P. Avdo \u017diga was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1953. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1978. He completed post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1983. He specialized in etching in \u201eAtelier 17\u201c in Paris, France in 1986 under the mentorship of professor S.W. Haytera. He displayed his works in individual and group exhibitions in country and abroad. He is currently employed as a professor at the Acadamy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
