He further specialized under Vladimir Beci\u0107 in 1928\/29. French Government granted him a scholarship in two instances (in 1932 and 1939) which he spent in Paris. During his first stay in Paris, he chronicled life on the streets of Paris, which was recorded in the print portfolio <em>Ljudi sa Seine \/ People from Seine<\/em> (1934). He taught drawing at Vukovar (1933 \u2013 36) and Karlovac (1936 \u2013 42) Gymnasium. He participated in the People\u2019s Liberation Struggle (NOB) from 1942. Detoni was professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb from 1945 to 1975. A member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts (JAZU) since 1963 and its Vice-president from 1972 to 1975. He exhibited with the Zemlja Group. Furthermore, during NOB, he participated at the exhibitions of Croatian artists that were.
