After returning he lived and worked in P\u00e9cs and Budapest, where he painted C\u00e9zannesque still lifes. In 1914 he wrote for the Alf\u00f6ld magazine\u00a0 about the connection of <em>C\u00e9zanneism <\/em>to the Renaissance tradition, and in 1915 he made compositions of larger format treating mythological and other motifs. He worked at the free art school in Budapest (1917\/18). He was also the head of the P\u00e9cs Arts Society.
