In 1923, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, under Oton Ivekovi\u0107 and Ljubo Babi\u0107, and he taught there from 1945. He was a member of the group <em>Zemlja<\/em> (1930 &#8211; 33), editor of the magazine <em>Kultura<\/em> and art critic in the magazine <em>Knji\u017eevnik<\/em>.
