He is one of the founders of <em>Klub mladih<\/em> (the Youth Club) (1922). He worked closely with his brother France (1895 &#8211; 1960) until 1927. Both are considered to be pioneers of Expressionism in Slovenia. Later he developed in the direction of monumental realism. He also worked on painting churches, especially in the Slovene Littoral.
