In 1938, she moved to the USA. Her first solo exhibition was held in 1945, in Bertha Scaffer Gallery in New York. She taught at the Pratt Institute, School of Visual Arts and the University of New York. In 1949, she abandoned painting and started making sculptures. She published her works in the US art reviews and magazines. In 1977, she obtained the honorary doctorate of the Yale University, as well as other public recognitions.
