He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. During his study visit to Netherlands, works of Rembrandt van Rijn sparked his interest in etching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Schmutzer exhibited his work on the international scene and has won numerous awards and recognitions. He introduced new techniques and use of large formats, previously unknown in etching technology.
