Vladislav Titelbah ( František Vladislav Tittelbach)

(1847. Lenešice, Louny, Czech Republic – 1925. Belgrade, Serbia)

Professor, architect, illustrator, set designer and decorative painter. He studied at the Technical Faculty in Prague and at the same time attended a painting school. After graduating in 1872, he came to Novi Sad, where he worked as a mathematics and descriptive geometry high school professor. He was also the last principal of the school, before its closing in 1875. He came to Belgrade in 1876 where he taught drawing geometry at the First Belgrade Gymnasium, and then drawing and calligraphy at the Teachers’ School. He studied folklore and ethnographic material, painting, architecture and cultural monuments. He has illustrated numerous publications. After the founding of the National Theater, he became an associate – set designer. He is credited with the development of theatrical scenography in Serbia.

A large collection of his drawings is in the Ethnographic Museum of Serbia and the National Museum of BiH in Sarajevo.
