Ferdinand Velc

(Vinařice kod Praga, Češka, 1864 – Sarajevo, BiH, 1920)

He attended the Academy of Arts in Prague and the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich, where he worked as an assistant. He has exhibited at major exhibitions in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and France. He came to Sarajevo in 1895, where he worked as a drawing teacher. He lived secluded life, was interested in ethnology, wrote a bibliography of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. He is considered one of the founders of fine arts in BiH.
